All Blacks Aim for Kicking Excellence with Adidas

London, November 19th, 2009 – The new PREDATOR®_X adidas rugby boot will be worn by Dan Carter this Sunday when the All Blacks continue their European end of season tour against England at Twickenhamcheap nike

Introducing a pioneering PowerSpine technology, the PREDATOR®_X is distinguished by its unprecedented increase in shooting power of seven percent in comparison to its predecessor.
The new PREDATOR®_X was developed over five years by a team of experts from different fields including biomechanical and material specialists, and design and footwear developers and then tested by somecheap james shoes of the best rugby kickers in the world including Dan Carter of New Zealand, Ronan O’Gara of Ireland, Jonny Wilkinson of England and South African World Champions Bryan Habana, Ruan Pienaar and Jean de Villiers.
The results are an astounding quality and fit improved by OptiFit technology. This technology brings all of the shoe’s materials as close as possible to the foot, creating a snug, three-dimensional ergonomic shape around the foot and providing greater control in movement, ball control and handling.
The new PowerSpine technology reduces the force on the foot when a kicker strikes the ball. Instead it transfers the saved energy directly to the ball which results in increased shooting power. It also decreases the flex and harmful impact on the metatarsal area of the foot, minimizing the risk of injuries.jordan fushions shoes
Dan Carter says, “This new PREDATOR®_X fits like a glove. The PowerSpine element in the sole of the shoe gives fantastic support and enables excellent power and precision when kicking, while the adapted swerve zone at the side of the boot really enhances ball control.”
The PREDATOR®_X rugby boot will be ranged by selected retailers worldwide from January, 2010. The black/master blue with white stripes colourway carries a RRP of €200.

Though the Adidas brand, and the three stripes did not officially begin until the end
cheap adidas shoes of 1948/beginning of 1949, the company and it’s founder, Adolf “Adi” Dassler have a much deeper history of creating sneakers.

Dassler started making shoes in 1920, in his mother’s washroom, at the age of 19. Adi hand made the shoes out of leather. In 1924, he convinced hispumas shoes brother Rudolph to join the business, the two personalities were fitting in a yin yang kind of way. Adi was more reserved designer, while Rudolph was more of an extrovert, a salesman. They registered the business as Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. The brothers continued creating shoes for specific sports, until 1946, when they created their first multi purpose shoe from supplies from the US Army, tent fabric, leather from baseball gloves, and a sole made from warplane fuel tanks. Rudolph and Adi decided to part ways in 1948, Rudolph went on to form Puma, while Adi created Adidas.

The three stripes became a trademark in 1949, and with the help of the 1952 Olympics, where more athletes wore Adidas then any other shoe, the company began to flourish. In 1954 the German team won the World Cup wearing revolutionary changeable “screw-in” spikes. In 1959, due to the growth and success of the company, Adi opened a second factory in Germany, while his son, Horst, opened an additional factory in France.chinese kongfu

In the mid 60’s Adidas began to produce athletic sportswear and sports balls. By 1970 the Official Matchball at all major football (soccer) events was an Adidas ball, which has continued to be the case cheap shoesever since. Not losing a beat into the 70’s, Adi Dassler, still at the forefront of the sporting world, creates custom boxing shoes for both Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier for “The Fight of the Century” in 1971. In 1972 the “Trefoil” logo is introduced, and in 1975 Adi is the first non-American induction into the Hall of Fame for National Sporting Goods, the 43rd inductee. In 1978 Adi passed away and running the company becomes the responsibility of his son and widowed wife.

Since then the company has continued its success by becoming more diversified. With creative marketing, collaborations like 2008’s ground-breaking aZX Project, and creating new technology, like the Torsion system in 1988, Feet You Wear, and most recently the Bounce system, the company has been able remain a top player in the footwear game.

adidas new athletic supplier

    Athletic Department
The University and adidas have entered into a multi-year agreement in which adidas will supply footwear and apparel for all 25 U-M athletic teams.cheap shoes/t-shirts The new agreement begins with the 2008-09 academic year and extends through the 2016-17 season. The agreement is valued at $7.5 million annually in cash and merchandise over the 8-year period.

“We are excited and proud of our new collaboration with adidas,” says Athletic Director Bill Martin. “adidas will outfit our student athletes and teams from head to toe while providing additional resources for our athletic department. The quality of adidas’ product and their dedication to service, on-site and to all of our teams, makes adidas a terrific partner for us.”

Beginning in the fall of 2008, Michigan intercollegiate teams will be outfitted exclusively in adidas footwear, nike shox shoes uniforms, training apparel and accessories. Michigan joins a select group of universities that have similar agreements, including Notre Dame, UCLA, Tennessee, Indiana, Nebraska and Wisconsin, among others. adidas also has marketing agreements with the NFL, MLS and an 11-year exclusive all-league partnership with the NBA.

“The partnership between adidas and Michigan brings together two powerful brands that both stand for performance and excellence,” says Martyn Brewer, head brand t-shirtsof U.S. sports marketing for adidas. “Michigan is a marquee program and we are honored to add a university so rich in tradition to the adidas family of schools.”

Michigan-adidas gear will arrive in stores next summer. Fans in Ann Arbor and across the nation will be able to purchase a wide range of products that include sideline gear, coaches’ polo shirts, hats, jerseys, performance apparel and outerwear. Martin specifically pointed to adidas’ agreement to provide on-site support and a pledge for unique sideline apparel as key factors in the agreement.

“We believe the new partnership is one of the strongest in college sports,” added U-M Athletics Chief Financial Officer Jason Winters. “Funding from the new agreement will provide added resources to our long-term facility renewal plan.”

The contract includes important provisions that reflect the commitment of both the University and adidas to labor and human rights issues. adidas’ Social & Environmental Affairs (SEA) team monitors contract factories for compliance with fair labor and sustainability codes of bwith shoes
conduct in order to identify potential problems and implement positive changes. The adidas SEA team provides regular monitoring reports to adidas partner schools.

So what’s the problem with adidas?

04 Apr

Thousands of workers endure poverty wages and harsh sweatshop-like conditions to make adidas their coveted sports shoes.
googi jeansAlthough the company has made some progress, overall adidas don’t have a good track record in relation to upholding trade union rights. In 2006-2007 they removed orders from suppliers with a history of respecting union rights, preferring to place them with suppliers with a tainted history in this area.
The factories which adidas cut orders to were in financial trouble, but Oxfam is concerned that these financial difficulties are likely to have been linked to adidas’ continual push to reduce the price they pay their suppliers. adidas has refused to release data on the prices paid to these factories.
We have been in constant correspondence with adidas since 2006 asking that they uphold the rights of their workers.
So what’s the solution?
Better wages
Workers require a living wage, which is one that allows them to meet the basic needs of a family after working a full-time working week without overtime. adidas won’t commit to a living wage for its workers.ca jeans
But it will commit to paying already high earning sport stars millions of dollars to endorse their products.
The right to form trade unions
adidas gets much of its gear made in countries and free trade zones where it is illegal or extremely difficult for workers to organise into unions. Without this united structure it is near impossible for individual workers to ask for improved conditions without fear of retribution.
A confidential complaints structurecheap adidas shoes
When workers suffer sexual harassment, intimidation, violence or other human rights violations they need to be able to access a confidential complaints mechanism, and they need those complaints to be taken seriously and handled sensitively. In response to public pressure, adidas has made some effort to establish complaint mechanisms in some factories, but most adidas workers don’t have access to a complaint mechanism which they have reason to trust.
Ban short-term contracts
adidas moves its production where it likes when it likes and does not ban or discourage short-term contracts for its workers. So when it leaves an area those workers on short-term contracts are left with nothing.
Incentives for respecting workers’ rights
adidas should offer meaningful incentives to factories that respect workers’ rights, particularly workers’ right to organise trade unions. Without genuine incentives human rights abuses will continue.
Dear adidas,
… large sporting goods manufacturers have the responsibility to minimise large discrepancies of wage and working condition between the developed and developing worlds. I find it abhorrent that sports people are awarded millions in sponsorship deals while factory workers for the same company are paid around four euros a day. I hope you can take these criticisms from myself and others seriously.
This message was sent by campaign supporter Frances Ampt in 2006, in response to an appeal from Oxfam Australia for supporters to send protest emails to sports brands

Adidas introduces a virtual running partner

miCoach pacer By SUBASHINI SELVARATNAM
intech@thestar.com.my

KUALA LUMPUR: Do you want to become a better runner? If you do, check out the latest gadgets from Adidas called miCoach Pacer and miCoach Zone.

According to Adidas, miCoach is an interactive training service that was developed to motivate, china shoes inspire and enable runners to reach their training goals, whatever they may be.

miCoach zone “MiCoach acts as your own personal coach who is there with you on every run. It practically does all the thinking for you and knows exactly what you want to accomplish and exactly how to help you get there,” said Ng Chee Loon, country manager of Adidas (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

The Pacer is a small, lightweight gadget that delivers real-time audible coaching as you exercise via headphones or your MP3 player.

During your run, the Pacer verbally coaches you to ensure that you are staying within your targeted heart rate zone and keep you running at the right personal level.

The Zone, on the other hand, is an easy to read
cheap guccicolour-coded LED display on a wristband. Adidas said it provides accurate and real-time coaching, thus making it easier for you to train at the right intensity with the help of a heart rate monitor.

More gadgets

During the event, the company briefly mentioned two other miCoach devices, namely the miCoach heart rate monitor and miCoach stride sensor.

The heart rate monitor relays your workout information to the Pacer or Zone to ensure that you are not pushing yourself too hard or too little on your run.

miCoach stride sensor The stride sensor clips directly to shoe laces or inside Adidas adiStar and Supernova shoe models that have a cavity under the sock liner of the left shoe. This device provides data about your stride rate, distance and pace and it relays that information to the Pacer wirelessly.

To complement the miCoach devices, the company also released the Supernova Glide 2 shoe, which is designed with different torsion systems for men and women.

Adidas has also created an online platform (www.micoach.com) that allows you to create personalised training plans, set goals and proactively monitor and manage your progress over time.

The miCoach platform includes six documented training plans, ranging from those who want to run faster and improve a personal time, to those who want to lose weight.

The retail price of the Pacer and Zone are RM519.90 and RM269.90 respectively. The Supernova Glide 2 is priced at RM399.90.

As part of the launch, the company announced it will be giving away 100 miCoach sets. With the purchase cheap bagsof any Adidas running product, users just need to complete the adiNation of Runners pledge card before April 15 to qualify for the draw.

Jordan’s son wears Nike

04 Apr

ORLANDO, Fla. — A fight over the shoes Michael Jordan’s son will wear at the University of Central Florida has cost the school any future sponsorship with adidas.
foot locker
“The University of Central Florida has chosen not to deliver on their contractual commitment to adidas,” adidas spokeswoman Andrea Corso wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press. “As a result we have chosen not to continue our relationship with them moving forward.”

Freshman guard Marcus Jordan wore a pair of white Air Jordans during UCF’s 84-65 win in an exhibition game against Saint Leo on Wednesday night, the Orlando Sentinel reported on its Web site. Jordan has said he will only wear his father’s Nike Air Jordan shoes because they hold special meaning to his family.

UCF is in the final year of a five-year contract with adidas that requires coaches and athletes to use the company’s apparel and equipment.

“We are disappointed to learn that adidas has chosen to discontinue its relationship with UCF Athletics,” the school said in a statement Wednesday night released by spokesman Joe Hornstein. “Once we receive official notice we will be able to further respond.”

Don’t get me wrong I don’t think students should be sponsored. But if the team is taking in money, aren’t the student getting the wrong message as well
Toddlee2455 says: November 5, 2009, 9:36 AM ETCome on, he’s a walking billboard for Nike, even if his dad did all the work. And during recruitment he asked UCF if he would be able to wear his dad’s shoes, and they said yes, which was a factor in him signing. It would have been a big coo for Adidas to have a Jordan wearing their shoes, so I don’t have any problem with this.

Adidas and Puma end 60-year feud

04 Apr

The German sportswear companies Puma and Adidas are to end a feud started 60 years ago by their founding brothers.
handbags
Adi and Rudolf Dassler started making sports shoes together in their mother’s wash-room in the 1920s.

They fell out during World War II, probably over political differences, and founded firms on either side of a river in southern Germany.

On Monday 21 September, employees of both companies will shake hands and then play a football match.air jordan shoes

It is a big deal in the cobblestoned Bavarian town of Herzogenaurach, where two of the world’s largest sportswear companies are based.

First joint activities

When the brothers set up their separate companies in 1948 the town was also split, with residents loyal to one or other of the only major employers.

In a joint release, the two companies said they were making up to support the Peace One Day organisation, which has its annual non-violence day on Monday.cheap air jordans

They say that the events will be the first joint activities held by the two companies since the brothers left their shared firm in 1948.

Neither group is now controlled by the descendants of its founding families, although Rudolf’s grandson Frank Dassler raised some eyebrows in the town by working for both Puma and Adidas.

Since 2007, Puma has been majority-owned by PPR, the French luxury goods maker that also owns Gucci.
